Sensory Playground

Artist's rendering of the proposed sensory playgroundRobert Louis Stevenson Elementary does not currently have a playground on school property, because the old equipment was dismantled due to safety issues.

We are asking for your help to build a Sensory Playground that will be adaptive to student needs, promote safe and independent play, and support opportunities for sensory integration.

It will feature a wheelchair-accessible path with bridges looping through the space, which will provide a place for the children to ride tricycles. The children will be able to touch and smell fragrant leaves and flowers throughout the playground. There will be art stations that include a place to paint and create plus interactive murals, done by a local artist. Outdoor interactive musical instruments provide children an opportunity to create music. Climbing walls and swings will promote physical fitness and balance.
